Job Overview

Design the systems that move money for millions of Canadians. As a Staff Backend Engineer on Core Banking, you will own critical financial infrastructure — CDIC-regulated deposit accounts, interbank transfers, and ledger systems — built in Ruby and Go on GCP.

What you'll do

• Architect and lead the implementation of next-generation banking ledger infrastructure
• Define engineering standards for reliability, security, and correctness in financial systems
• Partner with compliance and legal to ensure systems meet OSFI and CDIC regulatory requirements
• Mentor and level-up senior engineers across Core Banking
• Drive cross-team technical alignment and resolve ambiguous technical problems

What you'll need

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience
• Deep expertise in distributed systems and event-driven architectures
• Experience with financial ledger systems or payments infrastructure
• Proficiency in Ruby or Go
• Track record of successfully delivering large-scale, complex systems
