Job Overview

Shopify Payments processes billions of dollars in transactions annually. As a Data Scientist on the Payments Intelligence team, you will build models that detect fraud, optimize approval rates, and surface insights that drive billions in incremental merchant revenue.

What you'll do

• Build and maintain fraud detection and risk scoring models
• Design and analyse A/B experiments to improve payment approval rates
• Partner with engineering to productionise ML pipelines
• Develop dashboards and reports for executive stakeholders
• Explore new data sources to drive merchant revenue insights

What you'll need

• 3+ years of experience in data science or machine learning
• Proficiency in Python and SQL
• Experience building and deploying production ML models
• Knowledge of statistical methods and experimental design
• Ability to communicate complex findings to non-technical stakeholders
